2 Samuel 5:1-3 NKJV
[1] Then all the tribes of Israel came to David at Hebron and spoke, saying, “Indeed we are your bone and your flesh. [2] Also, in time past, when Saul was king over us, you were the one who led Israel out and brought them in; and the LORD said to you, ‘You shall shepherd My people Israel, and be ruler over Israel.'” [3] Therefore all the elders of Israel came to the king at Hebron, and King David made a covenant with them at Hebron before the LORD. And they anointed David king over Israel.

There are two platforms that God owes everybody in life: The platform for preparation and the platform for performance.
Many times, people do not take seriously the platform for their preparation. They are waiting for the time of performance, forgetting that it is out of order to get into performance without preparation. If by any reason you get into performance stage without a due preparation, life will correct it.
When David was killing Goliath and commanding victories for the Israelites, he never knew that any throne awaited him. He was just obeying the Lord and using what he could afford to show his love for his people.
Alas, when the time came for the reward of obedience to be activated, people rallied round to submit to him. Here we see where human responsibility plays a major role in the fulfillment of prophecies. If prophecy had gone ahead of him but he had not been helpful to the people God sent him to, nobody would have joined him in defending his course.
What must you be doing now as a way of qualifying yourself for the position you are to occupy tomorrow? It is time to start doing it now. One major reason people jettison their preparation stage is that what God uses to prepare them does not look like the performance that await them.
Live your life in a way that you will both enjoy approval of God and approval of men. It is a possibility that cannot be denied.
