James 1:17 KJV
“Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.”
Beloved,
In the first article of this series, we established that there are two ways we obtain things: by reward (what you’ve worked for) and by gift. The one you will typically need to give account for is what you’ve been given. The irony of this is that we tend to give more attention to what we acquire by reward than the things that we have been given and will eventually need to account for.
What are the gifts that have been given to you? What will we give account for? There are ten gifts God brought to my attention that we must be able to give account for. Let’s look at some of them now.
The first is the gift of His Son. I love this one so much. I don’t think that there is anything that you can give to a person that is more precious than yourself, other than that which proceeds from you. The Bible says, in Romans 5:15,
But the free gift is not like the transgression. For if by the transgression of the one the many died, much more did the grace of God and the gift by the grace of the one Man, Jesus Christ, abound to the many. Romans 5:15
The Bible also says,
For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. John 3:16
When He gave us His Son He invariably gave us everything He loved.
Paul’s said it well as He wrote to the Romans,
He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him over for us all, how will He not also with Him freely give us all things? Romans 8:32
By giving us the gift of His only begotten Son, God gave us more than we could ever imagine, both in this life and in the one hereafter.
This brings me to the second gift we will all need to account for: the gift of salvation. He saved us from the sin and shame we deserved.
For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. -Romans 6:23
People can choose to reject the gift of salvation. That does not mean it was not offered; take it or not, you will need to explain yourself. Salvation is not limited to one thing. I preached a series earlier in the year about everything that comes with salvation. I called the message “Redemption Advantage Package”. I encourage you to reach out to me if you would like to be connected with this message.
Of course a part of this package is eternal life. Paul said it to the Romans just as Jesus said it to the lady in this scripture:
Jesus answered and said to her, ‘If you knew the gift of God, and who it is who says to you, ‘Give Me a drink,’ you would have asked Him, and He would have given you living water’. – John 4:10
Beloved, don’t allow such beautiful gifts to go to waste. Let them begin to work for you today. These gifts did not cost you anything BUT choosing not to accept such beautiful gifts, or allowing them to sit idly by as if they are just for show, or hiding them in your closet unused somewhere can cost you everything. God will enlighten you in Jesus mighty name.
I commit you to God and to the word of His grace.
I call you NATIONS. I call you blessed.
P.S. – I want to formally invite you to our annual Night of Colors on 22th December, 2022. Our theme this year is CHRIST REVEALED! You don’t want to miss it! Get your mind ready! More details to come
