Genesis 12:1 NKJV
Now the Lord had said to Abram: “Get out of your country, From your family And from your father’s house, To a land that I will show you.
Beloved,
Last time, I challenged you to make the decisions to answer God’s call- follow Him with all you have and all you don’t. Today, I come with another challenge, this time, in the form of a question: Are you sure you are going with the right people and the right luggage to the place God has called you to go?
Yes, we should be ready to follow God with all we have and all we don’t. As we are journeying with God and in full obedience to Him, there are things that can’t go with us. As seen in Abraham’s story, Lot journeyed with him for sentimental reasons. Be wise enough to know what and who you must take with you and what you must not.
Lot made a wrong choice. He chose to dissociate from Abraham once he (Lot) grew in wealth and influence to a level. That decision cost Lot his life, his family, and his possessions. Out of greed for a seemingly more fertile land, he agreed to depart from his spiritual and profitable joint. He used his natural eyes and perception to pick a “good location” without due diligence. He did not find out if where he was headed to was God’s will for him, or if the people living in that area were good people.
There is no way you will pitch your tent close to a forsaken place that you won’t eventually find yourself in that place. If you are separated from the called and the blessed, using your sight and your flesh to choose a “better” place for yourself, then it is inevitable that you will pitch your tent near Sodom. We will talk more on this next time.
I commend you to God and to the word of His grace.
I call you blessed. I call you NATIONS.
