Proverbs 28:13 NKJV
“He who covers his sins will not prosper, But whoever confesses and forsakes them will have mercy.”
Beloved,
Once you have learned about God and His expectations for you or what He requires of you, anything you choose to engage in without God or outside of His will is nothing short of a waste, and will cause you to have baggage or burdens. It will always leave you with lesser and eventually make you become lesser. Sin keeps you from seeing and enjoying the truth. It serves and is usually served to you as a distraction, or better, a deception. The truth is that sin is an obstacle. It can only weigh and slow you down on your journey through life and destiny. A believer cannot afford to entertain sin in their lives because it leads to a breakdown in their relationship and intimacy with God. It’s only a matter of time.
There are a few more things worth knowing about the impact of sin in a person’s life:
- Sinning is bad. Sinning and covering it is far worse. Refusal to repent for both or either error is the absolute worst! It literally means you have chosen that sin as your priority and your lord. It proves how little you trust God and how little you know about His love and mercy. It’s a decision to reject His grace and the blood He shed, which is the only thing with the power to truly cover your sins to the point of eradication.
- Defending an act of sin demonstrates refusal to repent. If you refuse to repent, then you will keep sinning. It is inevitable. And even when you know it truly is a sin, you will develop the tendency to sin and devise ways to cover your sin- which, in turn will expose your weaknesses, which will now cause you to keep sinning.
- When you’re not willing to repent, you give the devil permission to work his works in your life while you block yourself from enjoying God’s hand at work in your life.
May the Lord give you grace, and may the Holy Spirit prevail as leader of your life that you might not sin against Him. We will cover more next time.
I commend you to God and to the word of His grace.
I call you blessed. I call you NATIONS.
