8 Likewise deacons must be reverent, not double-tongued, not given to much wine, not greedy for money, 9 holding the mystery of the faith with a pure conscience
The subject of faith is one of the main staples in our Christian living. It is a major factor we must continue to explore to discover the hidden mysteries of walking with God. According to 1 Tim. 3:9, faith is a mystery because it is beyond what we can comprehend with our natural sense. To some, it is mystical in the sense that it is yet to be known and understood well. Let’s break it down in very simple terms. Take for example, the Chinese language, to everyone who was not born in China or studied the language, it is foreign and a mystery. However, it is a code to access the Chinese culture and understand the people. If or whenever you meet an individual who was born into that language, and you observed him or her interact in that native language, it is natural to such as sun rising and setting. Yet, to a foreigner, it is completely mystical. Now back to our subject matter, faith, Apostle Paul by the Holy Spirit in 1 Timothy 3:9 interpreted faith as a mystery. So, for us as believers to learn and understand faith, we must pay proper attention to it, which means we need to give it time and space.
The fact that faith is spiritual also makes it slippery because one of the characteristics of spiritual things are their ability to be slippery in nature. This makes it easy for us to miss it as it can easily slip away without us even noticing. To learn to hold onto something slippery, it requires full attention and energy. Hence, we must exert some conscious energy to get a good and solid grip of faith. Holding forth onto faith is critical because the success of your Christian life depends on your faith capacity. You must get a good understanding and grip of faith and never let go.
