2 Thessalonians 2:1 MSG
Now, friends, read these next words carefully. Slow down and don’t go jumping to conclusions…
Beloved,
Albeit sad, the truth is that many people are not good learners, and this is affecting their results in life. My father in destiny, Rev. Olusola Areogun taught us years past that “there are many unconscious teachers, but you must not be an unconscious learner”.
The verse above gives us a great template to developing a great learning habit:
- Hear and read carefully. For you to be able to do this, you must learn how to keep quiet in the presence of wisdom.
- Slow down. This is an important point to note for teachers or people that think they have an idea about everything. They usually like to air their opinions as soon they can and this limits how much they get in conversation. Learn to slow down. If the person you are having a conversation with is a fast speaker, you can respectfully ask them to slow down and or ask intelligent questions that will make them go over the points they made until you process it. You may even ask for some time to go through the entire conversation over again until you assimilate as much as you could.
- Don’t go jumping to conclusions. I see this happen a lot in my few years of counseling people. Stop using a wrong fact to come to a “logical” conclusion.
I commend you to God, and to the word of His grace.
I call you BLESSED. I call you NATIONS.
