Matthew 7:6 NKJV
“Do not give what is holy to the dogs; nor cast your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn and tear you in pieces.
Beloved,
Running with someone whose heart is not right with you is like casting your jewel before swine.
The devil is a liar, but to the believer, he is a deceiver. The devil can use people to deceive you into wasting your God given resources. He can use people to confuse you into losing time. He can even use men
to deceive you into losing your vision. This is why you must check the hearts of men. See people for who they are and place them accordingly.
But consider the story of the young prophet and the old prophet in 1 Kings 13. Maybe the young prophet felt honorees to be approached by the old prophet. Maybe he just did not want to be rude. But see the outcome. He threw away his destiny and even his life all because he failed to do a heart check before journeying with someone he ought to have traveled with to begin with.
Beloved, you cannot properly discern. without help from the Holy Spirit. The Bible says in Proverbs 1:7, “The Lord is the beginning of knowledge.” The same proverbs tells us “not to lean on our own understanding.” Ephesians 5:6a warns us to “Let no one deceive you with empty words..”. In other words, it will take the Holy Spirit to help us to discern men properly. You cannot be emotional when it comes to deciding who to trust or walk with. Invoke your relationship with the Holy Spirit to discern men properly and trust the Lord to help you.
