DO NOT YIELD – Part 5: From Sin’s Grip to God’s Grace

Mark 8:31-33 NKJV

And He began to teach them that the Son of Man must suffer many things, and be rejected by the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and after three days rise again. [32] He spoke this word openly. Then Peter took Him aside and began to rebuke Him. [33] But when He had turned around and looked at His disciples, He rebuked Peter, saying, “Get behind Me, Satan! For you are not mindful of the things of God, but the things of men.”

Beloved,

The human mind cannot be empty of thoughts. When you claim that your mind is empty, you are referring to an aspect of your life that you cannot coordinate your thought process with. Thoughts are there but you cannot just process it.

The object of conversation today is not if your mind is on something, the focus is what is your mind full of? You alone can answer that question, and it is important you answer it now before life will compel you to answer it.

Peter had been with Jesus for a long time, as matter of fact, he was one of the very few that were so close to Jesus and supposedly understood His ministry. However, when Jesus saw His response to the central core of His existence on the earth, it revealed that Peter’s heart had been full of many things contrary to the things of the Spirit. And that became a matter of concern for Jesus.

Things that can fill our minds can be broadly categorized into things of men and the things of the Spirit. And what our minds are full of is a direct reflection of what we feed our minds on. And Galatians 6:8 (NKJV) says, “for he who sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life”.

So, check what your mind is full of. If it is not what you want, change it by changing what you feed your mind with.

It is important to pay attention to this because your destiny is as healthy as what is in your mind. And how God can entrust something of eternal relevance to you is traceable to what your mind is full of.

I commend you to God and to the word of His grace.

I call you BLESSED. I call you NATIONS.
