Hosea 4:17 NKJV
“Ephraim is joined to idols, Let him alone.
Beloved,
One of the most fortunate human being that ever lived in the Bible days was Ephraim. The Bible recorded how his grandparent brought him to the level of his father by the force of his blessing. He gave him a double portion over his contemporary (Genesis 48:13-end). However, the devil caught up with him in his generation because as years passed by, he lost the divine donation due to some things—one of which the Bible says he joined himself to idols. As a result of this, God says: “let him alone” (Hosea 4:17).
Joining, in most cases, is an individual decision and choice. What is that thing, that is an abomination to God, that have you willfully joined yourself to? The devil’s attribute remains subtilty; he knows what each believer can easily fall prey of, and he is setting everybody up with custom-made bait. Some of these custom-made baits through which people get joined to idols include pornography, all manners of manipulations to get rich, addictions, information that makes sense but do not make faith and disdainful attitude towards the sacred things of God. When I see the positions some believers take over kingdom matters, I cannot but conclude that they have joined themselves to idols.
I usually tell people that if you have ever disrupted the devil’s plan, he does not forget. He is looking for every way to hunt you down. That was what he did for Ephraim—he set him up with idols and unfortunately, he got him. What is the idol that the devil has set up for you? Have you identified it? Are you sure you have not been caught up? It is time to trace your way out of every idol because the consequence of it is separation from God and that consequence alone is unbearable for anybody. If you do not believe, ask Cain (Genesis 4:13-14)
I commend you to God and to the word of His grace.
I call you BLESSED. I call you NATIONS.
