Journey to Wealth
Proverbs 2:1-4,9 NKJV
¹My son, if you receive my words, And treasure my commands within you, ²So that you incline your ear to wisdom, And apply your heart to understanding; ³Yes, if you cry out for discernment, And lift up your voice for understanding, ⁴If you seek her as silver, And search for her as for hidden treasures; ⁹Then you will understand righteousness and justice, Equity and every good path.
Money. Fortune. Wealth. What first comes to mind when you see these words? A big house? A nicer car and dollars flying everywhere? Maybe you are among those who see an answer to impossibilities- a chance to pay off a mountain of debt and bills or other responsibilities.
As I was preparing for this series, the Lord brought something to my mind that I will now place upon yours to procure an answer to: are you working to pay bills or to build wealth?
The Lord God, Jehovah Jireh does give us the power to make wealth. Why? Why is God interested in our earthly prosperity? The Bible explains this to us:
But thou shalt remember the Lord thy God: for it is he that giveth thee power to get wealth, that he may establish his covenant which he sware unto thy fathers, as it is this day.
Deuteronomy 8:18, KJV
God would not give us the power to do anything that is counterproductive to our destiny. The problem that exists today is that the devil has done a great job of perverting the understanding of many believers when it comes to making wealth and prospering in life. Some have not yet learned basic principles about how to gain or master fiscal resources. They do not take seriously the value of money and as a result, their life and ministry are limited on this side of eternity. Then there are others who place too much emphasis on it. 1 Timothy 6:10 says:
For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.
1 Timothy 6:10, KJV
Money should not limit us in life. And our concept of wealth should not limit us either. As a believer, any good thing that gets into your hand should multiply. It is a kingdom principle. In this series we will look at the journey to wealth and how to be good stewards of it.
Wealth is a mighty tool in the hands of the righteous. It is designed to do four things for us on this side of eternity:
1. Provide for our basic needs.
2. Help us provide for the needs of our fellow man.
3. Advance the gospel.
4. Illustrate God’s power and care in provision.
One reason so many struggle in the area of wealth is limitation in understanding. Wealth is not limited to physical or digital currency. While money can definitely place a smile on a man’s face, it does not replace the glory and abundance of the joy of the Lord.
Wealth is indicative of abundance. Abundance is a characteristic and benefit of the kingdom of God. As we go through this series, I implore you to open up your mind and heart. It is my prayer that you will develop an understanding concerning the power and purpose of wealth and its role in your destiny fulfillment.
I commend you to God and to the word of His grace.
I call you blessed. I call you NATIONS.
