Journey to Wealth II
But thou shalt remember the Lord thy God; for it is He that giveth thee power to get wealth, that He may establish His covenant which He swore unto thy fathers, as it is this day.
Deuteronomy 8:18, NKJV
Beloved,
As we discussed the last time, wealth is synonymous with abundance in what is profitable, not otherwise. It is synonymous with an evidence that one has an awareness of what is of great value and a demonstrated capacity to steward it to overflow or flourishing.
How well do you know God? How much do you look and act like Him? The devil loves to pervert everything that is good and anything that would make you more like God or bring you closer to Him. This is why so many Christians are in debt.
In today’s write up, I want to buttress the importance of knowing the true meaning of wealth as we have just discussed it. I want to remind you again, that a critical aspect of the personality of God is “Shaddai”, the Hebrew for “might”. Might reflects capacity. When you know God as the Lord God, Almighty, your confidence must increase. It is only those who walk in covenant with God that enjoy such a privilege. Let’s look at the case of Abraham, who was once known as Abram. His entire destiny changed because He did what allowed him the privilege of enjoying the Shaddai side of his Heavenly Father.
When Abram was ninety-nine years old, the Lord appeared to Abram and said to him, “I am Almighty God; walk before Me and be blameless. And I will make My covenant between Me and you, and will multiply you exceedingly.” Then Abram fell on his face, and God talked with him, saying: “As for Me, behold, My covenant is with you, and you shall be a father of many nations. No longer shall your name be called Abram, but your name shall be Abraham; for I have made you a father of many nations. I will make you exceedingly fruitful; and I will make nations of you, and kings shall come from you. And I will establish My covenant between Me and you and your descendants after you in their generations, for an everlasting covenant, to be God to you and your descendants after you. Genesis 17:1-7 NKJV
When you know God as Jehovah El Shaddai, you know that He is more than enough. He is all you need. Therefore, you don’t waste time chasing what will not prosper you eventually. And you don’t have to fear, for God is with you.
As we see from the life-changing experience of Abraham above, the path to wealth is a mysterious one. It takes the wise and the faithful to tread it. Both wisdom and faithfulness are also important aspects of God’s character; He is wise and He is faithful. You must understand this about God and what this means for you IF you will effectively make the journey to wealth. We will talk more about the journey to wealth and what to expect next time. Until then,
I commend you to God and to the word of His grace.
I call you blessed. I call you NATIONS.
