Luke 17:17-19 MSG
Jesus said, “Were not ten healed? Where are the nine? Can none be found to come back and give glory to God except this outsider?” Then he said to him, “Get up. On your way. Your faith has healed and saved you.”
Beloved,
Our generation is full of ingrates. We see them amidst both the young and the old. Many people who fall into this category are either ignorant of how essential the practice of gratitude is or they have just formed a habit around ingratitude.
This generation needs to know that ingratitude is a major practice that closes the door of favor to any man. The show of ingratitude communicates no regard for the gift bestowed. It communicates that you place no value on the blessing you received. Inability to show a requisite gratitude commensurate to the benevolence received shows that you are either proud or you were expecting more than what was given and that typifies entitlement mentality.
When you appreciate what someone has done for you and they respond by saying “don’t mention,” please don’t mind them. Mention! Don’t ever neglect to mention. The same elders that usually say that you should not mention are the same ones that say, “when a young man shows gratitude for the benevolence received, he would receive another one.” So, show appreciation for every benevolence received!
We will continue this thought flow tomorrow by looking at the how of showing gratitude.
I commend you to God and to the word of His grace.
I call you blessed. I call you NATIONS.
