DO NOT YIELD – Part 5: From Sin’s Grip to God’s Grace

Phil. 4:7

And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

Beloved,

Peace according to the dictionary is freedom from war and stress. When we look at our world right now- it looks to be all about war and stress. Yet God promises everlasting peace amidst crisis and calm amidst storms.  Peace is real and as God’s children, the peace of God is ours. We should not let the enemy steal our peace no matter the circumstances around us.

God’s peace passes all human understanding. This is because God’s peace causes us to behave in a way that is completely opposite of how others are behaving during a crisis.  Peace is not pretending that things do not go wrong or that problems do not exist. It is being still and knowing that HE is GOD.  It is trusting that God is on his throne and directing our affairs.

Peace is a gift from God- you do not work for it. It is not dependent on the size of your bank account. It a covenant we enjoy that is directly linked to the relationship we have with the father. That is why a rich man can be running scared while a poor man is sleeping soundly without a care in the world. Each has a different understanding of HIS GOD. Peace is the combination of faith and patience. Reading, speaking, and obeying God’s words builds our faith in him; deepens our understanding of him; and increases our reliance on him. So as children of God, we need to constantly lift our eyes to the heavens and begin to see things around us with spiritual eyes. We need to know that our help, hope, joy and peace is in God. With Jesus in our boats- we cannot sink regardless of the strong winds or rough waters.

I commend you to God and to the word of His grace.

I call you BLESSED. I call you NATIONS.
