Genesis 1:3 NKJV
Then God said, “Let there be light”; and there was light.
Beloved,
Today, we will look at some people in the Bible who received light and profited with the light they saw.
- Rahab. She was popularly known as a prostitute, but she was the only one who had the discernment to recognize the uniqueness and blessedness of the people of covenant. As a result of her discernment and her ability to take initiative, her life and her family were preserved when Jericho fell. She found her place in destiny and became a matriarch of Christ.
- Mordecai. He encouraged his cousin Esther to participate in the selection process to be the queen. His timely encouragement and advice gave Queen Esther the courage needed to convince the king not to destroy the people of Israel but to pronounce judgement on their enemies.
- Joseph. He refused to be enticed by his boss’ wife for momentary pleasure and gain. He endured unjust treatment and eventually became the prime minister of Egypt during his time, Genesis 37-50.
- Jacob. Jacob once missed divine visitation of God when he was fleeing from his brother Esau. Due to that negligence, he sold himself to slavery for more than 14 years. Eventually, God visited him again and this time, he was wise enough to maximize that encounter, Genesis 27.
- Abraham. Abraham came from a people that worshiped idols, but he heeded the voice and the call of God when God instructed him to leave his people and depart to the land he would be shown. The result of his obedience was that he was known as the friend of God and the father of many nations, Genesis 12.
Beloved, like these few examples we have seen, make allowance for the light when it comes and profit with it. Every appearance of God is an opportunity for the communication of light. Do not miss divine encounters.
Next time, we will talk more about how to work the light.
I commend you to God and to the word of His grace.
I call you blessed. I call you NATIONS.
