Beloved,
We are still on the topic of filling in the gaps of life. Gaps in life represent any areas of our life that give room to Satan. As a believer in Christ Jesus, you are a winner by default. However, you will still have to fight. The difference is, you are not fighting to obtain the victory, Jesus has done that for you. You are fighting to defend it (Hebrews 2:14-15). Once you have been set free, you must guard your heart.
Ephesians 4:27
“…and do not give the devil a foothold.”
Be intentional about fortifying the gates of your heart against the wiles of the devil. How does the enemy get into the lives of people? Let’s look at some of the ways:
- The art of perpetual disobedience: The key word here is art, meaning one has made a practice out of it. Read 1 Kings 11:14; 23; 25 and you will learn the consequence of perpetual obedience.
- Vulnerabilities: Any habits and associations you have established outside of God’s will… and any ones you have failed to establish despite God making them available to you. Ask Eve. It was while she was alone that the devil was able to connive her and all of humanity into sin.
- Emptiness of heart
Luke 11:24-26
“When an unclean spirit goes out of a man, he goes through dry places, seeking rest; and finding none, he says, ‘I will return to my house from which I came.’ 25 And when he comes, he finds it swept and put in order.26 Then he goes and takes with him seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter and dwell there; and the last state of that man is worse than the first.”
Praise God for deliverance. But if we fail to put right structure in place, we make ourselves available for demonic inquiry.
4. Pursuit of greater purpose. Nehemiah 4 gives us an example of what comes with destiny pursuit. The devil is afraid of our obedience to the God. He knows it means his end is closer. He will do everything in his limited power to ensure we remain ignorant or distracted as it pertains to Godly pursuit. We must not engage in activities and circles of people that are not in alignment with God’s Word or will for our lives. We should not be lackadaisical as it pertains to our God ordained destiny.
The enemy is a defeated foe. But we must be intentional about defending the territory God has given us and guarding our hearts.
I commend you to God and the Word of His grace. I call you BLESSED and NATIONS.
