1 Timothy 6:17
“Teach those who are rich in this world not to be proud and not to trust in their money, which is so unreliable. Their trust should be in God, who richly gives us all we need for our enjoyment.”

It’s easier to surrender all when “all” is not much. Many people- believers included- are better givers when they have less to give. Man loves to be on the receiving side. And it’s not bad to receive or save or be frugal. It is, however, dangerous and limiting not to follow kingdom principals especially as it pertains to the law of giving that God has given us:
“We should each give what we have decided in our heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion because God loves a cheerful giver”- 2 Corinthians 9:7
Giving should be something we do in all sincerity. Why? We should be hungry to be more like God. We should be thirsty for Christian living. Christ gave up His entire earthly life and His deity for us. He showed us that we are worth much more than money can buy. If we are serious about our walk with God, we must have a structure in place– one that includes thanksgiving and sound stewardship. Giving is not difficult- in fact it comes with an eagerness because we have the heart and habits of our Creator. We carry a strong desire to be more like our Heavenly Father daily. Our Heavenly Father, through Christ, has freely given us all things. His only ask is that we surrender all.
