1 Corinthians 10:23 | Amplified Classic
All things are legitimate [permissible-and we are free to do anything we please], but not all things are helpful (expedient, profitable, and wholesome). All things are legitimate, but not all things are constructive [to character] and edifying [to spiritual life].
Beloved,
The guilt I am talking about is the feeling of regret you hold on to after repentance. When repentance is not well done, it has a resultant effect of guilt. Guilt is the reason why many people cannot forgive themselves or accept other people’s forgiveness. It makes people take negative responsibility for their past and makes them to feel indebted to pay what they will never be able to afford.
Feeling bad for doing something wrong is a major process of true repentance; but dwelling on remorsefulness so much so that your heart condemns you, even after repentance, is a pollution to your destiny. When the devil succeeded in filling the heart of Judas with guilt, he entered into depression and eventually committed suicide. That is the adverse effect of guilt. It makes a man to lose confidence in relating with people and especially, with God.
Stop carrying guilt around. It is a load that would hinder you from gaining speed in the pursuit of life.
I commend you to God, and to the word of His grace.
I call you BLESSED. I call you NATIONS.
