1 Corinthians 13:11-12
“When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child; but when I became a man, I put away childish things. For now we see in a mirror, dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part, but then I shall know just as I also am known.”
Beloved,
Your past is not your fault, especially if you were an unbeliever. Your past was a reflection of the light you had at the time. If you are struggling to enjoy your life today because of things you did yesterday, you are wasting your life. Stop beating yourself up about past decisions. Learn from it and move on. You see, the truth is you did the best you could with the information you had. Now, you know Christ, so you know better and can do better.
One way you do better is that after you surrender your past to God, learn from it. Learn what you can and can’t do. Learn about your strengths and weaknesses. Learn how God helped you through past situations. Learn what certain decisions of your past have cost you or would have cost you without God’s intervention. Then the next step: learn how you can profit from your past.
May you begin to see your past from the lens of your glorious present and future in Christ, in Jesus’ name.
I commend you to God, and to the word of His grace.
I call you BLESSED. I call you NATIONS.
