Luke 16:8, NLT
“The rich man had to admire the dishonest rascal for being so shrewd. And it is true that the children of this world are more shrewd in dealing with the world around them than are the children of the light.”
Beloved,
When we started this series, I told you that what you do matters to God. What you do must matter to you, also. Do you know the story of the shrewd manager we are talking about in the verse above? By all accounts, he was indeed “a dishonest rascal” that was about to be fired. But it was because he kept his own account of his affairs that he was able to problem solve for his future.
As Jesus rightly stated in Luke’s gospel, so many Christians miss out on much needed advantages because they have not placed value on their past- that includes things we have done for God in the past! While it is true that we must “let go of the former things”, it is also true that we must give everything that belongs to us to God knowing He will help us make the most of it. Today, we benefit from the account of saints who took the time to keep an account of their trials, triumphs, and the lessons they learned along the way. If they only shared their triumphs, we would miss the context what makes their victories that much more glorious.
Your past is profitable- and not just for ministry! Maybe you have done things in church that the devil wants you to see as small or insignificant- nothing you do for God is insignificant! You can word it well and add it to your resume or CV or use what you learned in your service to God to catapult your business to the next level. Do not think that what you have done in the kingdom has no earthly relevance. There is value in it. There is value in everything about you, including every part of your past.
I commend you to God, and to the word of His grace.
I call you BLESSED. I call you NATIONS.
