Exodus 14:13
And Moses said to the people, “Do not be afraid. Stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord, which He will accomplish for you today. For the Egyptians whom you see today, you shall see again no more forever.
1 Samuel 13:8-9
8 Then he waited seven days, according to the time set by Samuel. But Samuel did not come to Gilgal; and the people were scattered from him. 9 So Saul said, “Bring a burnt offering and peace offerings here to me.” And he offered the burnt offering.
Beloved,
Knowing the will of God can be complicated, especially at the early stage of walking with God and at crossroads of life. However, it becomes easy as we come to a place of total surrender to God.
There are two commands that we see repeated often in God’s instructions to Israelites: “Be still” and “Go forward”. When you search through the scripture, you would see them appear again and again. In my experience, I consider them God’s default instructions you can always obey. In other words, when you have not heard from God expressly, you can act on them and still be in the will of God.
This is my counsel: when you want to choose between these two default instructions, it is better to choose “Be still” than to choose “Go forward”. We can learn this wisdom from Moses; when people mounted pressure on him, he chose to rather be still than go forward. It is better to err with staying put than to move in error. When Saul chose to go rather than wait, he lost his anointing and position with God. While I understand that both could be dangerous, biblical instances show that God helps people who sincerely err at the side of waiting than people who err at the side of movement.
I receive grace for accurate decision making for you in Jesus name.
I commend you to God, and to the word of His grace.
I call you BLESSED. I call you NATIONS.
