Becoming a Strong Man (VIII)
“And the Lord appeared to him the same night and said, “I am the God of your father Abraham; do not fear, for I am with you. I will bless you and multiply your descendants for My servant Abraham’s sake.” So he built an altar there and called on the name of the Lord, and he pitched his tent there; and there Isaac’s servants dug a well”.
Genesis 26:24-25, NKJV
Beloved,
Be a builder. A major reason every Christian must be strong is because as we are called to build. It’s not enough to simply build. You must be ready to build on time what matters and what will last. As indicated in the scripture above, first, you must build your relationship with God. Build upon His word and let that be the foundation of everything you build.
In Genesis 6, we learn that Noah was strong enough for God to trust him to build an ark that would preserve a generation and generations to come. He built what mattered. He built it at the right time and he built what would have a lasting impact. Meanwhile his great grandson, Nimrod, was known as one of the strongest men on earth. Genesis 10:8-12 speaks of his strength and passion for building. But pay attention:
8 Cush begot Nimrod; he began to be a mighty one on the earth. 9 He was a mighty hunter before the Lord; therefore it is said, “Like Nimrod the mighty hunter before the Lord.” 10 And the beginning of his kingdom was Babel, Erech, Accad, and Calneh, in the land of Shinar. 11 From that land he went to Assyria and built Nineveh, Rehoboth Ir, Calah, 12 and Resen between Nineveh and Calah (that is the principal city).
Genesis 10:8-12
He built Nineveh, which Jonah would eventually need to be cajoled to save and he spearheaded the building of the Tower of Babel which the Bible says this about:
4 Then they said, “Come, let us build ourselves a city, with a tower that reaches to the heavens, so that we may make a name for ourselves; otherwise we will be scattered over the face of the whole earth.”
5 But the Lord came down to see the city and the tower the people were building. 6 The Lord said, “If as one people speaking the same language they have begun to do this, then nothing they plan to do will be impossible for them. 7 Come, let us go down and confuse their language so they will not understand each other.”
8 So the Lord scattered them from there, over all the earth, and they stopped building the city.
Genesis 11:4-8
Don’t build what God or the devil will eventually be ready to scatter. Be strong in the Lord, build what counts in His sight and build what will last.
I commend you to God and to the word of His grace.
I call you BLESSED. I call you NATIONS.
