DO NOT YIELD – Part 5: From Sin’s Grip to God’s Grace

1 Corinthians 9:25 NKJV

And everyone who competes for the prize is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a perishable crown, but we for an imperishable crown.

Beloved,

One of the virtues that we rarely develop is a virtue of competition. Amazingly, it is one of the inborn virtues of every human being. We see that play out in our children a lot. Once you give one of the children a hug, you would see the other one coming to ask for their hug. If you buy a toy for one, the other one is asking for their own immediately.

Many times, when we see this play out in our children, we rise up to kill it in them because we erroneously interpret it to be a jealousy. Of recent, I began to have a rethink of this scenario. This scenario didn’t start out as jealousy. It is the virtue of competition that is looking for an expression but because we couldn’t harness it, it leads to jealousy and while we were trying to eliminate the tendency of jealousy in them, we kill both jealousy and a competitive spirit.

This has rendered many people unfit on the platform of performance. It has made many people lack confidence to push through life as they ought to. I have seen many people who have great potentials unable to rise up the ladder of life because they lack the fortitude to fight and compete.

In the next few episode, we would be considering how we can develop a righteous competitive attitude. But as I round off today, I’m praying for a revival of that virtue for healthy competition in Jesus’ name. In any way you have been limited by a lack of that virtue, let the Lord make it up for you. I curse the spirit of timidity and I cause a rising of the spirit of a fighter in Jesus’ name.

This is your best week ever.

I commend you to God and to the word of His grace.

I call you BLESSED. I call you NATIONS.
