1 Thessalonians 5:19-20 GW
Don’t put out the Spirit’s fire. Don’t despise what God has revealed.
Beloved,
We have discussed dispositions to prophecy that connote despite. Today, I will speak to us on how to properly respond to prophecy. How should you receive prophecy?
- Judge the prophecy. Do this by checking to see if you can back it up in scripture. Every correct prophecy will not violate the written word.
- Judge with your spirit, not your brain. Your brain is limited when it comes to discerning spiritual things. The Bible says:
1 Corinthians 2:14 NKJV
But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.
- Judge with your regenerated mind. Again, only a renewed mind can capture spiritual realities.
- Judge the prophecy by other prophetic vessels.
- Judge with your “confirmer”. This is someone that you have accepted as a prophet and pastor over your life.
- Judge by the authenticity of the prophetic vessel.
Do not judge prophecy by your past experience. Say, you received a word and haven’t seen its manifestation. Don’t let this stop you from embracing what God has for you now. Don’t let the passing of time make you doubt your prophecy. And don’t consider your present circumstance. Of Abraham, the Bible says:
Romans 4:19 KJV
And being not weak in faith, he considered not his own body now dead, when he was about an hundred years old, neither yet the deadness of Sarah’s womb:
Judge God faithful. If He promised, He will do it.
I commend you to God and to the word of His grace.
I call you blessed. I call you NATIONS.
