DO NOT YIELD – Part 5: From Sin’s Grip to God’s Grace

Matthew 18:19-20
“Again, I say to you that if two of you agree on earth concerning anything that they ask, it will be done for them by My Father in heaven. For where two or three are gathered together in My name, I am there in the midst of them.”

Beloved,

Duo anointing takes process, and it is cultivated over time through willingness to understand each other. Like I explained yesterday, unity and agreement are needed for any relationship to work. In a marital relationship, it is important that you agree with, and submit to your spouse.

It is imperative to be aware of the causes of disagreements and lack of submission in marriages and do all that you can to guard against them. These include:

  • Skepticism. Some people by virtue of their experiences mistrust others. They always question the intentions of others and this can lead to disagreements and arguments in a marriage. Such behavior is a stronghold and must be treated as such.
  • Individualism. Some spouses grew up having unilateral control over their lives and decisions and they have developed a system that works for them. The danger in this is that for these people their way has to be taken without considerations for the input of their spouses. Such people find it difficult to yield or concede in their marriages.
  • Ego. Men are more susceptible to this problem because as society has trained them not to yield control. Humility is an antidote to this problem.
  • Lack of trust. Some spouses have broken the trust of their partners over and over. This makes it very hard for the aggrieved spouse to trust them again. Since trust is necessary for agreement and submission, both become difficult. To overcome this, the spouse who broke the trust needs to submit to a system of accountability to rebuild the trust. This is a process that takes time and cannot be rushed.

Beloved, as a married person there are things you can incorporate into your marriage to build agreement and submission. I will share some of those things tomorrow.

I commend you to God and to the word of His grace.

I call you blessed. I call you NATIONS.
