Luke 7:37-38
And behold, a woman in the city who was a sinner, when she knew that Jesus sat at the table in the Pharisee’s house, brought an alabaster flask of fragrant oil, and stood at His feet behind Him weeping; and she began to wash His feet with her tears, and wiped them with the hair of her head; and she kissed His feet and anointed them with the fragrant oil.
Beloved,
Our text shows that this woman never opened her mouth to ask for anything, but her display of love had asked for everything. Jesus noted that Simon didn’t give Him water when He entered his house. Meaning one of the classic ways to show love is by giving. God Himself exemplified this for us in John 3:16.
The Bible says how lovely are the feet of those who preach the gospel, the implication of this woman kissing the feet of Jesus is that she is contributing something significant to the ministry of Jesus, she allowed that ministry to be important to her.
Also, Simon not anointing Jesus’ head but the woman anointing His feet means, she empowered Him to do even more in ministry. As a result of these acts, Jesus could testify that she loved Him more.
Don’t honor God in your own way, honor Him the way He wants to be honored. When you come before the Father, ask Him how does He want to feel your worship and He will tell you, because your love is what He is looking for. If you love more, it will amaze you that everything you ever asked for will come to you because of this.
I commend you to God and to the word of His grace.
I call you BLESSED. I call you NATIONS.
