Beloved,
In holding on to this mystery of faith you need to hold on first to your persuasion – your knowledge. To be persuaded means that having heard all the information; this is your judgement, this is where you stand. It is possible to receive or hear a promise from God’s word yet not be persuaded about it. Persuasion has to do with what you have aligned your mind with. The second side of faith is to keep on believing (Mark 5:36). So essentially, holding on to your faith is simply a function of how you can hold on to your persuasion and to your belief.
Two major factors contend with the faith you are holding on to: doubt and fear. The devil supplies these two factors into a believer’s life by bringing an attack on the word, the one spoken to you concerning the situation. Doubt is not denying the truth, it is the enemy’s way of giving you another side to the truth. Doubt will introduce another information to you to contend with the knowledge you had before. Beloved, the wave in James 1:5-6 depicts the picture of a man swinging between two information. It is when you get to that point of swinging between two information that fear is able to gain access.
I commend you to God and to the word of His grace.
I call you NATIONS. I call you blessed.
