John 4:24
God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.”
Beloved,
Our text informs us that God is a Spirit, and we must worship Him in spirit and truth. Your spirit must be intentionally involved and present in your worship to God, not only your lips and your mind.
Worship requires vulnerability before God. Don’t come before God uptight, with an attitude of having all the answers. When you come before God, you come empty, with no righteousness of yours because you don’t have one. You come as a broken vessel asking Him to fill you up.
Coming to God requires the acknowledgment of sin which must be followed up with repentance of the same. Coming to God requires not relying on flesh. Don’t rely on your skills or accomplishments when worshiping God. You might be a skillful singer, you might know how to play musical instruments, you might have incredible accomplishments in your career and life in general; all these are inconsequential before God. What He want is for your spirit to be present in your worship.
Being vulnerable with God allows you to worship Him while weak or strong and while happy or sad. A person who can worship on a sick bed can do so because their spirit is strong. A physically strong person who collapses in the face of adversity does so because their spirit is weak.
Beloved, examine your heart before God today, is there any sin you have not repented of that is causing you to offer a superficial worship to God? Would you say you are vulnerable with God each time you appear before him? Do the needful today and enjoy deeper intimacy with the Holy Spirit in the worship of God Almighty.
I commend you to God and to the word of His grace.
I call you BLESSED. I call you NATIONS.
