Matthew 14:17-20 NKJV
[17] And they said to Him, “We have here only five loaves and two fish.” [18] He said, “Bring them here to Me.” [19] Then He commanded the multitudes to sit down on the grass. And He took the five loaves and the two fish, and looking up to heaven, He blessed and broke and gave the loaves to the disciples; and the disciples gave to the multitudes. [20] So they all ate and were filled, and they took up twelve baskets full of the fragments that remained.
Beloved,
When only water remained at a wedding, Jesus used it to make wine (John 2:1-11). When only five loaves of bread and two fishes were made available to Him and His disciples, He was able to use those to feed over 5,000 people and plenty was left over. God can and will do the impossible with what we have, IF we yield it for His use.
Maybe you feel you aren’t enough or don’t have enough. Beloved, permit me to tell you, today, that what you have now and where you are now is good enough for God to work with. It’s His pleasure to work with you and what you have, that He might draw more people to Himself, that they might enjoy their best and eternal life and bring Him glory.
Psalm 92:12 reminds us that the righteous will flourish like a palm tree and the thing about palm trees is that every part of the tree is useful. As children of God, every part of us – past, present and future – is useful to God. Everything of ours – possessions, post, position, resources, time, successes, longings, pain, disappointment – is useful to God.
It’s easy for us to get hung up on our limits in life. But I want to let you know or gently remind you that there is a Great God who exists and through Him, everything and everyone becomes greater and better. Through Him, everyone finds and carries out a powerful purpose and enjoys a glorious future.
What part of your life do you consider not good or inconsequential? Your past? Your pain? Your possessions? Your office? Your home? Your talents? Your gifts? Your level of influence or voice? All these things are a potential media for the Holy Spirit to reach others through you.
Everything we have been given is so that God can have a place among men (Zechariah 3:7). Every place we find ourselves is a platform to use for Jesus, because a place truly becomes our place when God takes a place there. When our place becomes a platform for Jesus, it becomes Bethel, a meeting point between humanity and divinity. It becomes a ground for evangelism. It becomes a place to intervene for people’s freedom.
Giving your life and everything in it to Jesus is enough to join you to something that will last eternally. Make the decision today that you and all concerning you is good enough for Jesus to use and see what God will do with and through you.
I commend you to God and to the word of His grace.
I call you blessed. I call you NATIONS.
