DO NOT YIELD – Part 5: From Sin’s Grip to God’s Grace

‭‭1 John‬ ‭5‬:‭3‬ ‭NLT‬‬
Loving God means keeping his commandments, and his commandments are not burdensome.

Beloved,
Every command of God is divine and must be treated so. Obedience is a habit that must be consciously cultivated. God’s commands give life. They aren’t difficult to obey. Don’t let the devil tell you otherwise.  1 John 5:3 encourages us to form a habit around keeping His commandments. Every commandment is born out of the love God has for you and the order He has put in place.

How do you make obedience to God’s commands a habit? Treat every command as a command. God does not suggest or try to say something. He says what He means and means what He says. When the Bible tells you to be pure, don’t see it as a suggestion, no matter how much the world minimizes or trivializes that command. If God’s word says it, you must obey it.  Obedience to right authority should not be optional in the life of a believer. The Bible says,

Luke 6:46 NKJV
“But why do you call Me ‘Lord, Lord,’ and not do the things which I say?

I implore you, if you have decided to make Jesus the Lord of your life, let it not just be something you say. He is not your Lord if you do not obey Him. Let a revelation of His Lordship compel you to obey Him. A divine revelation of Christ will cause you to deeply desire to obey Him.

John‬ ‭14‬:‭23‬-‭24‬ ‭NLT‬‬
Jesus replied, “All who love me will do what I say. My Father will love them, and we will come and make our home with each of them. Anyone who doesn’t love me will not obey me. And remember, my words are not my own. What I am telling you is from the Father who sent me.

May you desire to know Him more, and may this deep desire bring you the grace to obey and it’s accompanying benefits.

I commend you to God and to the word of His grace.

I call you blessed. I call you NATIONS.
