1 Samuel 18:20-21, NKJV
Now Michal, Saul’s daughter, loved David. And they told Saul, and the thing pleased him. So Saul said, “I will give her to him, that she may be a snare to him, and that the hand of the Philistines may be against him.” Therefore Saul said to David a second time, “You shall be my son-in-law today.”
Beloved,
We have just about finished our series on profiting from gifts. But we must balance it. You can’t profit from gifts that are not designed to profit you. Some gifts are not truly gifts at all. Rather, they are snares.
Remember, every good gift is from God. If the Bible is specific enough to describe some gifts as good, it invariably means that some are bad. Nothing bad is from God. Such gifts are from the devil and anything Satan or anyone working with him gives you is no gift at all. It is a snare and you must be careful never to accept such.
A snare is anything designed to shortchange you in life. Consider the situation described in the verses above. The gift of the king’s daughter was no gift at all; it was meant as a snare for David.
Snares are given by people and spirits of darkness to trap you or trip you up. They can be distractions, poisons, cheap alternatives to what God has for you or weapons against you all together. It takes divine intervention to save you once you have accepted such. So as much as it is great to receive gifts, BE CAREFUL! It’s not every gift that is of God or that comes from Godly intentions. Do not accept snares.
I commit you to God and to the word of His grace.
I call you NATIONS. I call you blessed.
P.S. – I want to formally invite you to our annual Night of Colors on 22th December, 2022. Our theme this year is CHRIST REVEALED! You don’t want to miss it! Get your mind ready! More details to come
