Psalms 141:5
To You I will cry, O Lord my Rock:
Do not be silent to me,
Lest, if You are silent to me,
I become like those who go down to the pit.
Beloved,
The voice of a father is a major voice that must be active in the life of anyone that wants to be successful. There are two kinds of fathers that every believer is entitled to have: a biological father (or foster father as applicable) and a spiritual or what I called destiny father. God allows your biological father to put a certain measure of value and structure in your life while the spiritual father is the one that God chooses for you to take responsibility over your destiny and ensure that you are set on course for your destiny.
We are living in the days where the voice of fathers are silenced because of modernization and erroneous beliefs about independence. The truth is that true freedom is in righteous restriction and such is the kind that the voice of a father sets for you.
The writer of the Hebrew says:
See that you do not refuse Him who speaks…
Hebrews 12:25
Solomon says:
Hear, my children, the instruction of a father, And give attention to know understanding
Proverbs 4:1
It is very dangerous to neglect the voice of the father your life. When Rehoboam, Solomon’s son, neglected the voice of the fathers, he chose his destruction. When the prodigal son’s father kept quiet on him, he lost everything and all the privileges of being a son. It is a deception of the devil to let you think you can handle life without the commitment of God and the one He has sent to help you through the journey of life.
Outright refusal of Eli’s sons to listen to their father aborted their destiny and sent them to early grave. No wonder Solomon says:
A fool despises his father’s instruction, But he who receives correction is prudent.
Proverbs 15:1
I encourage you to watch out for the voice and the silence of the father over your life. You can easily perceive God’s direction when you have a responsible father watching your back.
I commend you to God and to the word of His grace.
