DO NOT YIELD – Part 5: From Sin’s Grip to God’s Grace

Stop Deceiving Yourself VI

Let him not deceive himself and trust in vanity (emptiness, falseness, and futility), for these shall be his recompense [for such living].
Job 15:31, AMPC

Beloved,

Never deliver empty threats or promises. It reduces you and your credibility. Make it a habit to say what you mean and mean exactly what you say. Otherwise, as much as you think you are being persuasive, you’re only deceiving yourself.

Jesus advises this in scripture:

But I say to you, do not make an oath at all, either by heaven, for it is the throne of God; or by the earth, for it is the footstool of His feet; or by Jerusalem, for it is the city of the Great King. Nor shall you make an oath by your head, for you are not able to make a single hair white or black. But let your statement be, ‘Yes, yes’ or ‘No, no’ [a firm yes or no]; anything more than that comes from the evil one.
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭5‬:‭34‬-‭37‬, AMP‬‬

Don’t deceive yourself by promising more than you can deliver. The Bible also tells us this:

Those who linger long at the wine, Those who go in search of mixed wine. Yes, you will be like one who lies down in the midst of the sea, Or like one who lies at the top of the mast, saying: “They have struck me, but I was not hurt; They have beaten me, but I did not feel it. When shall I awake, that I may seek another drink?”
Proverbs 23:30,34-35, NKJV

People who deceive themselves are like drunkards believing what isn’t true. Don’t let this be you. Stay true to yourself and work to live, speak, think, and interact with others and with the Holy Spirit according to God’s word.

I commend you to God and to the word of His grace.

I call you blessed. I call you NATIONS.
