James 3:3-5 TPT
Horses have bits and bridles in their mouths so that we can control and guide their large body. And the same with mighty ships, though they are massive and driven by fierce winds, yet they are steered by a tiny rudder at the direction of the person at the helm. And so the tongue is a small part of the body yet it carries great power!
Beloved,
Have you yielded your life to the Holy Spirit? One way to ensure He remains in the driver’s seat of your life is by your habitual study and meditation on the word of God. The Word of God is an authority on His own. If you are truly committed to taking control of your life, as we have said before, you will need to be ready to stand guard against forces that would love to help you relegate how much the Holy Spirit can go to work for you. Satan would appreciate it greatly if you remain ignorant to his devices. In fact, ignorance is one of the major devices he uses to keep believers powerless.
If you don’t know the word of God, you won’t know the kind of power you have over the enemy and you won’t be able to defend what is yours.
But it’s not enough to know God’s word. You must know and believe it enough to declare it. There is so much power in your tongue. That’s why the devil wants you to be careless with it. Fill your mouth with God’s word. Confess it daily. Say what must be as it is written in God’s word. Be accountable for what you say and do not say, just as you should take accountability for what you do and choose not to do.
Make it your priority to start doing habitually, all you must to be in control of your life.
I commend you to God and to the word of His grace.
I call you blessed. I call you NATIONS.
