I Samuel 18:1 , NKJV
“Now when he had finished speaking to Saul, the soul of Jonathan was knit to the soul of David, and Jonathan loved him as his own soul.”
Beloved,
The definition of agreement is this: the ability to reason together and stick together. If there is disagreement anywhere, it should not be around the reason that brought you together. You should be able to drop every other thing and focus on what brought you together to move forward. Agreement means that you can always find a middle ground- a focus on your purpose together and the reason you can continue together.
We said something the last time- It’s not all who walk together that are truly together. When this is the case, less is achieved. Think about the people you have been called to walk with. Are you truly aligned? Are you truly together? Let’s look at the example of Jonathan and David. They are a great example of two that walked in agreement at least until the day Jonathan chose the side of his dad over the will and move of God with Israel.
- Their souls were knit. your heart must be connected to whomever you have committed to walk in agreement with.
- There must be love. 1 Samuel 18:1 expresses how Jonathan loved David as he loved himself.
- You must be willing to sacrifice what is personally convenient to you to accomplish what you have agreed to accomplish. Look at the following scripture:
Then Jonathan and David made a covenant, because he loved him as his own soul. And Jonathan took off the robe that was on him and gave it to David, with his armor, even to his sword and his bow and his belt.”
I Samuel 18:3-4, NKJV
The truth is that true partnership is rare these days. The Bible warned us that men will become lovers of themselves in these last days (2 Timothy 3:2). Don’t let this be true about you. Examine the nature of the kingdom-ordained relationships you are involved in and evaluate the level at which you are truly walking in agreement.
I commend you to God and to the word of His grace.
I call you BLESSED. I call you NATIONS.
