Luke 10:41-42 (NIV)
“Martha, Martha,” the Lord answered, “you are worried and upset about many things, but few things are needed—or indeed only one. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her.”
Beloved,
As you progress in life, it will be required of you to move from the things you want to the things you need, and this transition is one of the signs of maturity. From the introductory passage you will see that it was Martha who brought Jesus to the house, but it was Mary who benefitted the most from that visit because she understood what was needful per time. When you engage with people in conversations, you will notice that many don’t know what they want or need in life. They are hard workers no doubt but when you look at what they are pursuing, you will understand that they have misplaced priorities. God doesn’t want us to have that kind of mindset, He doesn’t want us to run in the rat race of this world’s system. He doesn’t want us to be busy with little or nothing to show for it.
In college, some courses are core while some are electives. You don’t have to pass the electives to proceed to the next level or to graduate but if you don’t pass the core courses, you will have to retake them. There are some core courses in life where if you have everything and you don’t have those things, then you don’t have anything in life.
In the coming days, we will examine together the things you need most in life and why you need to have them. If you don’t move from the mindset of wants to the mindset of needs, you will be dispensing your energy on the wrong things and the law of priority will not be evident in your life.
I commend you to God and to the word of His grace.
I call you BLESSED. I call you NATIONS.
