Luke 7:37-38
And behold, a woman in the city who was a sinner, when she knew that Jesus sat at the table in the Pharisee’s house, brought an alabaster flask of fragrant oil, and stood at His feet behind Him weeping; and she began to wash His feet with her tears, and wiped them with the hair of her head; and she kissed His feet and anointed them with the fragrant oil.
Beloved,
Simon the pharisee represents Christians that will call Jesus to come yet will not pay Him any attention when He arrives. A meeting is called in church and all such people are waiting for is that time they will be called upon to perform. Every other thing happening in that meeting is not their concern. Such Christians are not different from this man.
As believers, we must be careful of what we do when we come before the presence of the Father. We must give God our total and undivided attention when we come before Him.
From verses 41-42, Jesus’ question to Simon was, “who will love more?” He didn’t even ask who would be more grateful? What this means is that whenever God does something for you in life, it is not your gratitude as it were that God is looking for, He is looking at the measure of your love.
Upgrade your gratitude for what God does for you to love. This is because the possibility exist that you may be grateful, but you still don’t love. But there is no way you will love God and will not be grateful for the things He does for you.
Gratitude is good, love on the other hand is even more powerful. So, when I lift up my hands in worship and in praise to God, what God is looking for is my love for Him.
I commend you to God and to the word of His grace.
I call you BLESSED. I call you NATIONS.
