Deuteronomy 6:4-5
Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one! You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength.
Beloved,
We have considered the various causes of reduced passion in the past couple of days. But how do you regain your passion after you identify that it is going down? Here are some ways to regain your fervency and passion:
– Commit to daily practices of Christianity. Regularly invest time in worship, reading of the word, praying in the spirit, and fellowshipping with other believers. You generate much strength in your personal daily walk with God. So if you used to do these and have stopped, start again, and be consistent.
– Get involved in activities that can jump-start your fervency. Intentionally commit to assignments in the house of God that make you develop your personal walk with God.
-Be accountable. Being accountable to someone who is in a better place than you are spiritually helps.
– Set your atmosphere right. Play messages or worship songs in your home, on your commute to maintain the right atmosphere. Also be on the lookout for things that deplete grace from your life and avoid them.
– Spend time with like-minded people, Luke 12:42. The Bible says
Whoever walks with the wise becomes wise, but the companion of fools will suffer harm.
Proverbs 13:20
– From where you are, look up, Genesis 13:14. The way depression works is that it makes you to look inwards to begin to spotlight the deficiencies and perceived defects in your life. The more you dwell on them, the more you withdraw away from people, and you hide to try to cope or manage. Seek godly counsel. Remind yourself of the goodness of God has He has shown you in the past. As the hymn says, count your blessings one by one. As you do so, your eyes will be opened to see what God has done.
Beloved, don’t allow the spirit of depression to rule over you. Take back the control of your life. Watch out for those things that drains passion, and guard against them. And if at any point you find yourself in any of these situations, go back to God in prayer and worship and regain your passion for God.
I commend you to God and to the word of His grace.
I call you blessed. I call you NATIONS.
