Acts of the Apostles 13:22 NLT
But God removed Saul and replaced him with David, a man about whom God said, ‘I have found David son of Jesse, a man after my own heart. He will do everything I want him to do.’
Beloved,
God loved us so much that when we were at risk of eternal death, He sent us His Son to be our Savior. What makes Jesus different? What makes Him the Savior? Then you should also ask: What made David different from Saul? What qualified Him to be a king after God’s own heart and the earthly father of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ? Take a moment to dwell on that.
God was not looking for someone just to win a battle. He was looking for a savior for His people. He found it in King David. Not only did Jesus come to redeem us from sin; He redeemed us from ordinary life and showed us what God requires from us – to be like His Son, to be like our Savior. David displayed those qualifications and it placed him in a position to fulfill prophecy, to jumpstart the lineage of our Lord and Savior.
What does it mean to be a savior? In this series we will look at the qualities of a savior. As we prepare for the year ahead, it is important that we go in with the right mindset. We are not saved just for ourselves. We must be like our Savior. As we prepare for this short series, take the day to think about what it means for Jesus to be your Savior. What has He saved you from? Make a list and thank the Lord for all He has kept you from. Then I want you to think about why He saved you. There are some who have gone with what you have gone through, those who lost battles to the very thing you struggled with, yet He saved you. Why?
Beloved, you were not redeemed from the pits of Hell for your sake alone. You have a purpose. You must represent your Savior while you are here on the earth. You were redeemed because the world needs saving. Can God trust you with the work of salvation?
I commend you to God and to the word of His grace.
I call you BLESSED. I call you NATIONS.
