Acts 27:21-25 NKJV
[21] But after long abstinence from food, then Paul stood in the midst of them and said, “Men, you should have listened to me, and not have sailed from Crete and incurred this disaster and loss. [22] And now I urge you to take heart, for there will be no loss of life among you, but only of the ship. [23] For there stood by me this night an angel of the God to whom I belong and whom I serve, [24] saying, ‘Do not be afraid, Paul; you must be brought before Caesar; and indeed God has granted you all those who sail with you.’ [25] Therefore take heart, men, for I believe God that it will be just as it was told me.
Beloved,
It is imperative we know who we are. If we don’t, we leave room for Satan to interpret our identity and our destinies for us. This will not be your portion, in Jesus’ name. Last time, we covered some of the critical structures we must have in place in order to fortify ourselves against lost, broken, or wrong identities.
In a world filled with distractions and temptations, it’s crucial to guard our hearts and minds against influences that can lead us away from God’s path. This includes avoiding conversations and media that promote values contrary to biblical teachings. Protecting our innocence and maintaining clear boundaries help us stay focused on God’s truth. These also help us to avoid the pitfalls of curiosity and temptation as we discussed last time.
Ultimately, finding our identity in Christ means trusting in God’s divine plan for our lives. Just as Jeremiah 6:16 encourages us to seek out the ancient path and walk in it, we can trust that God has a unique pathway designed specifically for us. By surrendering our desires and plans to Him, we allow God to reveal His purpose and direction, guiding us toward a fulfilling life rooted in His love and truth.
Finally, one of the best ways to protect ourselves from our own curiosity is through accountability. By surrounding ourselves with wise counsel and transparent accountability partners, we create a safeguard against spiritual pitfalls and moral compromises. Accountability helps us stay committed to God’s path for our lives, ensuring that we remain aligned with His purpose and identity for us.
In conclusion, overcoming identity crises begins with embracing our identity in Christ and trusting in His guidance. By surrounding ourselves with supportive community, being transparent with God, guarding against negative influences, seeking accountability, and trusting in God’s path, we can navigate life’s challenges with confidence and clarity. Let us embrace the journey of discovering and living out our true identity as beloved children of God, secure in His grace and purpose for our lives.
I commend you to God and to the word of His grace.
I call you blessed. I call you NATIONS.
