DO NOT YIELD – Part 5: From Sin’s Grip to God’s Grace

‭Acts 27:21-25 NKJV‬

[21] But after long abstinence from food, then Paul stood in the midst of them and said, “Men, you should have listened to me, and not have sailed from Crete and incurred this disaster and loss. [22] And now I urge you to take heart, for there will be no loss of life among you, but only of the ship. [23] For there stood by me this night an angel of the God to whom I belong and whom I serve, [24] saying, ‘Do not be afraid, Paul; you must be brought before Caesar; and indeed God has granted you all those who sail with you.’ [25] Therefore take heart, men, for I believe God that it will be just as it was told me.

Beloved,
There are ways to prevent and even overcome identity crisis. The first is by knowing that our true identities are in Christ. When we surrender your lives to Him, we exchange our old selves for new lives that reflects God’s original design. This transformation makes us joint-heirs with Christ, securing our identities as beloved children of God. Rather than being defined by fleeting feelings or societal norms, we find lasting fulfillment in embracing the identity God has uniquely crafted for each of us.

The next means of fighting off identity crisis is finding a right community for yourself. Everyone is not your friend nor a friend to your destiny. You must be intentional about associating with the right company. This will help to fortify you against the lies and attacks of the devil.

Next, be transparent and vulnerable with God any time you feel physically, socially, or mentally lacking. He already knows our innermost thoughts and struggles, but by confiding in Him, we demonstrate our trust and faith in His ability to guide and transform us. Opening up to God allows Him to work in our lives in ways that bring true fulfillment and healing, addressing any feelings of inadequacy or uncertainty about our identities.

We will round off this series next time with one final and critical way to avoid and overcome identity crisis.

I commend you to God and to the word of His grace.

I call you blessed. I call you NATIONS.
