Acts 27:21-25 NKJV
[21] But after long abstinence from food, then Paul stood in the midst of them and said, “Men, you should have listened to me, and not have sailed from Crete and incurred this disaster and loss. [22] And now I urge you to take heart, for there will be no loss of life among you, but only of the ship. [23] For there stood by me this night an angel of the God to whom I belong and whom I serve, [24] saying, ‘Do not be afraid, Paul; you must be brought before Caesar; and indeed God has granted you all those who sail with you.’ [25] Therefore take heart, men, for I believe God that it will be just as it was told me.

To keep your identity, you must protect your hearing. Jesus, Himself, said that we must be careful what we hear and how we hear.
Mark 4:24 NKJV
Then He said to them, “Take heed what you hear. With the same measure you use, it will be measured to you; and to you who hear, more will be given.
Our hearing is what eventually determines our belief system. One can tell what kinds of things a person has been listening to by how he speaks, what he has, and what he has authority over. God created us in His image; therefore we must always know who we are, what we have, and what we have authority over. When we do not, it invariably leads to crisis.
You are made in God’s image. Are you listening to His word? Do you know what God has said concerning you? Read your Bible! Love your identity as revealed in the scripture.
In addition to reading and believing what God says about you in His word, make sure you pray. “Watch and pray…,” Jesus warns us in Matthew 26:41. The devil is sneaky and will come at unguarded moments. Keep watch for his attacks so he doesn’t catch you unawares.
When you pray, not only are you keeping watch, more importantly, you are spending time in His presence. The more time you spend in the presence of God, the more you will get to know Him and His voice and invariably you will get to know yourself better.
Let God be your best friend and lover. Spend time in His word and presence. He is your Creator! He knows you more than you know yourself. If anything is wrong with you, only your Maker can fix you. Only Jesus Christ, your Redeemer, your Healer, and the One who gave you an identity as a joint heir, and as God’s word concerning you can tell you who you are.
