DO NOT YIELD – Part 5: From Sin’s Grip to God’s Grace

Malachi 2:15 AMPC
[15]  And did not God make [you and your wife] one [flesh]? Did not One make you and preserve your spirit alive? And why [did God make you two] one? Because He sought a godly offspring [from your union]. Therefore take heed to yourselves, and let no one deal treacherously and be faithless to the wife of his youth.

Beloved,

What is marriage for you? Is it a wish or a mandate? It is difficult to be in-between. It can even be dangerous to your destiny to be unsure. A mandate is an instruction, directive, or command from an authority. For the believer,  the cause of marriage is a mandate that must be given from God and directly received by a man to create or provoke something to fruition by any godly means necessary.

For example in Genesis 6, God instructed Noah to build an ark. After giving Noah the ark’s blueprint, God left Noah to come up with creative ways to execute that assignment by himself. The bottom line was that an ark must be built. Why? That was his God-given mandate.

Dear married person, did you enter into marriage with guesses, estimations, illusions or dare I say, delusions about the inner workings of the married life?  Or like Noah, did you receive and are you following your God-given blueprint for your nuptials? If you understand marriage to be your mandate, then determine that you will be fully equipped before you go into it. Be ready to do all you can to make it work.

If you are wishing for the perfect, fairytale marriage- then beloved, no matter how hard you wish, it cannot and most likely will not happen. It’s like trying to grasp the wind in your hand or literally chasing a fantasy.

But, marriage as a mandate always begins with a clearly established “knowing”. If you will understand over time, you must prioritize your accumulation of right knowledge, wisdom, and understanding as these are the tools and weapons you will need to have mastered to address the critical situations that are just waiting to confront you, your spouse and your  marriage.  We will talk more about this next time.

I commend you to God and to the word of His grace.

I call you blessed. I call you NATIONS.
