DO NOT YIELD – Part 5: From Sin’s Grip to God’s Grace

Ezra 10:4 NKJV
Arise, for this matter is your responsibility. We also are with you. Be of good courage, and do it.”

Beloved,

As discussed in our last few write ups, we must be mindful of that which informs our actions and decision-making. So far, we have listed factors including relationship, emotions, instructions and there are still a few more factors we must be considerate of:

Wrong Judgment. 1 Chronicles 21:2 shares an example of King David, chosen of God exercised judgement that was less than sound, moving him to make dangerous decision that lead to dangerous outcomes eventually. In the chapter just before that, he does something similar… For whatever reason, he found the crown of the defeated king to be more attractive than the one he had on his head, and he decided to replace the less attractive with the glittering one. He had forgotten that it was the Lord that made him king, and he needed His approval to make judicial decisions like change of crown. That may have been why Satan gained access into his life in 1 Chronicles 21:1 by moving him to do something that made God angry.

Individual’s Vulnerability. The Bible says:

James 1:14-15, AMPC
“But every person is tempted when he is drawn away, enticed and baited by his own evil desire (lust, passions).”

Be mindful. Know that which you are vulnerable to and structure your life accordingly. If you are not intentional about minding what exposes you; you, yourself become a liability. Don’t allow what makes you a liability to lead you to making terrible decisions.

Complacency. In 2 Samuel the Bible says,

1 Samuel 11:1
“…in the spring, when kings go forth to battle, David sent Joab with his servants and all Israel, and they ravaged the Ammonites [country] and besieged Rabbah. But David remained in Jerusalem.”

The state of complacency is an unguarded moment the enemy can take advantage of to wreak havoc in a person’s life.

Commitment. In marriage, for example, before people with understanding enter such a covenant, they, first, determine to make it work no matter what they face. Commitment helps us keep our affairs and priorities in order, so we know what to do and do it on time.

Beloved, check your actions. It is your responsibility to understand why you do what you do. When you are responsible, you will pay attention to your decisions and actions. You will always have the right responses in life when you are intentional about what you allow to influence you.

I commend you to God and to the word of His grace.

I call you blessed. I call you NATIONS.
