Romans 13:1-2
“Let every soul be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and the authorities that exist are appointed by God. 2Therefore whoever resists the authority resists the ordinance of God, and those who resist will bring judgment on themselves.”
Beloved,
Proper governance, in any case, begins with right identity. If you cannot identify with the king, you are not qualified to govern in His kingdom. You cannot effectively manage or oversee anything for anyone you fail to understand and properly identify with. Are you established in your kingdom identity? Can someone see you, your presentation and priorities and before seeing your credentials determine who you are and what you stand for? As you must know God as King and Final Authority, people must see you and know that you are not ordinary.
What does kingdom authority look like? The word, “authority”- though most notable as “pertaining to power”, is better based in a word like, “understanding”. To understand anything, you must spend adequate time engaging it with respect to its standards and according to its terms. This is applicable to living beings as well. Spend enough time with a man, even on their quietest days, and you will come to learn things you’d never have guessed about them in passing.
Genesis 1:26 gently reminds us that we are made in His image. Therefore, provided we are spending adequate time with Him, our identity should be not just rooted and planted in Him but taken over by His own. If you truly find your identity in Christ, you will have no issue identifying as a son, priest, and servant, fully submissive to His will. As a son- you understand that you have an inheritance and stake in God, your Father’s will being done on the earth.
As a priest, intercession and showing the people the mercy of God as you lead them to Jesus is your privileged service and a major priority. As His servant, you are fully submitted to His will and way, withholding nothing, that you might please your Master. Master these as your identity and govern your God-ordained territories as instructed. See the reward God has waiting especially for you.
