Zechariah 12:10 NKJV
“And I will pour on the house of David and on the inhabitants of Jerusalem the Spirit of grace and supplication; then they will look on Me whom they pierced. Yes, they will mourn for Him as one mourns for his only son, and grieve for Him as one grieves for a firstborn.
Beloved,
As I round off this series on prayer, I will briefly share some practices that will help you build a functional prayer life.
Don’t build your prayer life around your needs. No healthy relationship can be built when a party feels that the other party only wants to get things from them.
Learn to spend time with God, with respect to quality and quantity. While it may not be possible to spend long hours praying every time because of the demand of life, you must ensure that the time you spent is of good quality. Also, routinely create time so you can spend a long time praying.
Use the word of God in praying. Many people’s prayers are full of human philosophy and human perceptions about God and life in general. It is the amount of the word that you wrap your prayer around and that you believe in, that God works with to bring about a desired result.
Embrace kingdom assignment and be actively involved fulfilling it. It is difficult for people with no kingdom assignment to build a strong prayer life. The passion to proffer solutions to people’s problems by the spirit, and the passion to get a desired result will always draw you to His presence.
Regularly ask the Lord for what and how He wants you to pray. The Bible is clear about the fact that it is an infirmity not to know what to pray for, but the Holy Spirit helps us by telling us what to pray for and how to pray. So, give allowance for the Spirit in your prayer. Let your spirit interact with the Holy Spirit to know what is in the heart of the Father per time.
Prayer must not be an event; it must be a lifestyle. If your prayer life will not be stale, you must obey these simple laws governing an effective prayer life.
I commend you to God, and to the word of His grace.
I call you BLESSED. I call you NATIONS.
