Genesis 11:31
… and they came to Haran and dwelt there.
Beloved,
God designed marriage with passion. Without passion, marriage is dead. Husbands are to love their wives passionately. When this is the case, it will be easy to tell because where your passion lies there will your heart also be. Wives are built with a desire and longing to be loved, to be close to their husbands while men need to be respected and honored. It is easy for husbands to not love their wives and for wives to not respect their husband and that is why God commanded us as He did.
There are many problems that arise in marriages when we do not heed this call. A husband focused on respecting his wife and not loving her is asking for trouble. So also is a wife offering her husband love without submitting to him. Husbands and wives must understand what drew them to each other in the first place and service that relationship. For example, if you both enjoy talking on the phone or have an activity you did together before marriage please remember to keep doing those things and not take each other for granted.
Husbands and wives must be intentional about meeting each other’s need and must not withhold intimacy to gain leverage in their marriage. You can liken marriage to a bank account where the husband and the wife makes deposits into the account every time they love and respect each other, do all the good they can for each other and forgive ahead. Withdrawals are made from this account by having unresolved disagreements, and bitterness. What is the state of your marriage bank account? Is it a healthy account, balanced with emergency reserves or is it overdrawn?
May God strengthen all our marriage unions and help us love like He does.
I commend you to God, and to the word of His grace.
I call you BLESSED. I call you NATIONS.
Wish all couples will read this. Thank you for the piece.
