Genesis 11:31
… and they came to Haran and dwelt there.
Beloved,
Haran is the place that people settle in on their way to Canaan. It is an alternative to Canaan. Many reasons are responsible for why people settle there. My hope is that if you understand what Haran is, you will do all you can to avoid settling there.
Haran is a place of pseudo-comfort, pseudo-fulfillment and pseudo-reward. Everyone who is heading to Canaan must have put in a level of sacrifice and commitment to the journey at one time or the other. When people like this get to Haran, it is easy to think that is the promised Canaan. When Canaan is confused for Haran, people unknowingly settle in Haran.
Secondly, many wrongly settle in Haran because they compare themselves with some other people. I am happy to announce to you that you are unique and your vision is unique. Stop comparing yourself to others. Because your friend stopped her pursuit after writing 10 books does not mean you must stop where she stopped.
Lastly, people stop at Haran because they get tired. It is human to get tired. However, wise ones must learn to refuel. Make sure you have extra before you run out. Elijah was instructed to eat because the journey is far. The same is applicable to us as Christians. We must not depend on the flesh. Rather, we must constantly depend on the supplies of the Holy Spirit.
I commend you to God, and to the word of His grace.
I call you BLESSED. I call you NATIONS.
