DO NOT YIELD – Part 5: From Sin’s Grip to God’s Grace

Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 NKJV
“Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their labor. 10For if they fall, one will lift up his companion. But woe to him who is alone when he falls, for he has no one to help him up.”

Beloved,

Marriage was designed to exemplify the most powerful unit on the earth. The marriage between a man and a woman ordained by God is designed to show the unity between the Godhead. It was designed to take frail and limited individuals to the peak and highest level of transformation.
The duty of a watchman is the responsibility of both spouses ideally, but in unique and peculiar cases, the responsibility will fall on one more to carry that mandate. What are you to watch over in your marriage:

  • Your spouse: Don’t pay more attention to your children to the neglect of your spouse. Remember it was the two of you that were there first before the children joined, and it will be the two of you left after they are gone to live their own lives. From now on, begin to build intimacy and deep friendship with your spouse. This is what you fall back on when things gets rough.
  • Your children: Watch over your children and don’t neglect their home training. The society is full of mannerless people who lack character and discipline because there was nobody to train them when they were young and could be corrected. Cultivate the character and temperament of your children and they will grow up to give you and the society peace. Train them to be people of excellence, truth, and value and don’t spare them when they complain. They will return to thank you for being hard on them when they are older.

I commend you to God and to the word of His grace.

I call you BLESSED. I call you NATIONS.
