Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 NKJV
“Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their labor. 10For if they fall, one will lift up his companion. But woe to him who is alone when he falls, for he has no one to help him up.”
Beloved,
If your marriage will fulfill God ordained purpose for your coming together, then it must be watched and carefully guarded. When God sees that you are committed to your marriage vows and to raising godly children, He comes to honor that commitment by granting you the grace and resources needed to make that desire a reality.
What are you to watch over in your marriage?
- Your work/assignment. Don’t neglect your duties in your home. Perform and enjoy your marital obligations to your spouse. Provide for the needs of your family as God grants you the grace within your ability. Cook nourishing food for the household. Treat sicknesses promptly and don’t permit it to hover around your household indefinitely. Clothe your family in outfits that makes them to be perceived as responsible people to others. Create an atmosphere of joy and happiness that other people will delight in when they pay your family a visit.
- Your properties. It is your responsibility to protect the investment of heaven in your life by faithfully being a steward over all that God has granted you by grace and mercy. Fix things that appear to be breaking down and don’t allow it to degenerate any further. Keep your properties and possessions in top shape and teach your children never to mismanage or destroy anything.
- Your territory, 1 Peter 5:8 AMPC
[8] Be well balanced (temperate, sober of mind), be vigilant and cautious at all times; for that enemy of yours, the devil, roams around like a lion roaring [in fierce hunger], seeking someone to seize upon and devour.
Your vigilance as a watchman will enable you to know when the devil is encroaching on your territory. Every devil as a smell and a shadow. Your ability to be spiritually sensitive will help you pick by the Spirit that the devil is seeking admittance into your space, and you must guard against that uninvited guest.
Next time, we will look at three more ways to keep watch over your marriage covenant. Until then,
I commend you to God and to the word of His grace.
I call you BLESSED. I call you NATIONS.
