Habakkuk 3:17-19 NLT
“Even though the fig trees have no blossoms, and there are no grapes on the vines; even though the olive crop fails, and the fields lie empty and barren; even though the flocks die in the fields, and the cattle barns are empty, yet I will rejoice in the Lord! I will be joyful in the God of my salvation! The Sovereign Lord is my strength! He makes me as surefooted as a deer, able to tread upon the heights.
Beloved,
A time will come when it seems like things are not working for you. Maybe you are having that experience now or you have had this experience in the past. Such an experience is an indicator that it is time for you to break forth. Remember, it is the joy you have in the Lord that is your strength and it is also your key to breaking forth!
Don’t let your situation dictate your responses in life. Rather, base your responses on what you know about God- the One who has called you and the One who can and will do marvelous things like extend time and pause the entire game and battle until you win. He rules in the affairs of men! Habakkuk knew God as the God of His salvation. He knew God as the God who made him strong and as surefooted as the deer…. able to tread upon heights (Habakkuk 3:17-19). It is all he knew about God that dictated his response. Why won’t Habakkuk praise a God like that over?
What do you know about the God you serve? What has He done for you? Who has He been for you? Let your gratitude and appreciation for who God is drive your response. Beloved, don’t let the affairs of life speak louder to you than the knowledge you have about your God. No matter how things are going, focus on what you know about the God of your salvation and let your response be worship.
I commend you to God and to the word of His grace.
I call you BLESSED. I call you NATIONS.
